Blessed be the Name

The weekly wallpapers that Jamison is being sent from truthforlife.org are so timely and the timeliness of them shows that they are meant as if just for us.

Today in church we started a sermon series on Job.  Timely. Relevant. Living it. There is so much that I could say about how fantastic the sermon was but the one thing that Pastor Orlando kept saying was that Job remained faithful

Job 1:21 "In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing"
Job 2:10 "In all this, Job did not sin in what he said."

As I read this for myself, the question that I asked Jamison that we need to consider in all the mishaps that we have had since starting this journey in October, what has our response been? Have we charged God with any wrongdoing or has our faith stood the test?  In all, we want to be people who say Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

Below are a few notes that we can learn from Job (as stated in church) and the song we sang that has been playing over and over in my mind for the last few weeks.

1.  Be ready:
for suffering.  We are often not prepared for when it comes. Have we thought suffering through so that when it does come we will handle it well.  Have a vs 21 attitude "Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord."

2.  Be rooted
Suffering is the testing ground for faith. There are no straightforward answers to our questions. God won't necessarily explain what he's doing even if we ask.  We can't assume what God is doing.  It's easy to be a Christian when it's good, it's when the heat is on we are shown for who we are.

3. Be reassured
We never suffer more than what God permits. Remember, sin and Satan were conquered at the cross.  There is 1 ruler, 1 King, 1 way things will work out. WE can have questions, but have confidence in this and don't despair.

"Blessed be the Name"
Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name
Every blessing You pour out, I'll
Turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name
Every blessing You pour out I'll
Turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name, oh
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
God you give and take away
Oh you give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name, oh
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
You give and take away
God give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
God you give and take away
Oh you give and take away
But my heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
Oh you give and take away
God give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name, oh
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
