London!

Mimi and Pops are finally here!  Ever since we moved we have been counting the days. I told the kids that when they got to their first term break, we would have visitors. They have been literally counting the days!  Excited is an understated!

I must say that they are troopers as well. The kids and I picked them up at 8 am and after a 10.5 hour flight we hit the ground running and went straight into London. England weather cooperated with their arrival as we had a bluebird day for the first day exploring.  It was a bit chilly, but the sun was out, something we have seen very little of.

First stop - Buckingham Palace. We got off the tube just in time to see the changing of the guards. The kids loved that. Michaela even talked Pops into a shoulder ride so that she could see.

From there we walked down to see the Queen Elizabeth Clock. Most people know of this as Big Ben but Big Ben is actually the bell inside the clock. It was renamed to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.

The lines were super long everywhere as it was Easter break.  Here is Michaela and Me outside of Westminster Cathedral.  Cameras weren't allowed inside here or Churchill's War Rooms, but we did tour both.

The other reason for the crowds was due to the funeral for the fallen police officer, Keith Palmer, during the London bombing in March.  Just outside Parliament flowers were placed in tribute.
